Ayurveda recognizes 6 tastes.  Each taste is to be present at each meal regardless of your Element.  The combination of tastes creates a feeling of satisfaction with your meal.  The key to balanced eating is to simply combine the food on your plate proportionately for your Element

 

If you are the Wind, you are made of the tastes Bitter, Pungent and Astringent.  Because these are prominent in your body's composition, it follows that you would need to eat more Sweet, Salty and Sour foods to balance your body. 

 

If you are the Fire, you are made of the tastes Salty, Sour and Pungent.  because these are prominent in your body's composition, it follows that you would need to eat more Sweet, Bitter and Astringent foods to balance your body.

 

If you are the Earth, you are made of the tastes Sweet, Salty and Sour.  Because these are prominent in your body's composition, it follows that you would need to eat more Bitter, Pungent and Astringent foods.
