Life's Purpose or Dharma

The doctrine of dharma is the most powerful law in the universe.  If you live in your dharma and abide by your dharma, you will be happy.

Right Choice Making or Karma

Those who are not in their dharma are guided back to their dharma by the law of Karma.  Karma rewards those who abide by their dharma and adjusts those who do not so that they will continue to seek their dharma.

Space, the Spiritual Body

"Akasha" in Sanskrit

Ayurveda recognizes 5 great elements that combine to make your uniquie constitution or "Dosha".   The 5 great elements are space, air, fire, water and earth.

How the Elements Combine

Space and air combine to create THE WIND
Fire and a little bit of water combine to make THE FIRE
Earth and water combine to make THE EARTH

In Ayurvedic terms, Space is the element that contains everything.  Space, unlike the other elements, does not change.  It is the one constant in your body and your environment.  Space in your body does not go out of balance.  It is a consistent containment of your nature.....it is your spirit.  At Elemental OM, space has a special place in that it represents the Spiritual Body.

Yoga, Meditation and Connecting to Spirit

Yoga translated means "to join".  It has been described in the 4th century by Panini as follows:

union (Samyoga)

coherence (Sanyama)

the settling of the individual mind (samadhi)

So, yoga is linked to the word religion from the Latin, "religare" or to "bind back".  Really, yoga is a processs of pulling our spirit or soul back to our person and centering and grounding us.

Yoga itself is not a religion.  There is no faith involved in yoga, only technique.  The techniques of asana (posture), pranayam (breath regualtion), pratyahara (mindfulness), dharana and dhyana (stages of meditation) and samadhi (the settling of the individual mind) unify the individual with source.

The teachings of yoga are less mystical and more practical and therefore relevant in today's world.  Yoga is a way of fine-tuning our nervous system so that we have a better experience of our world.  >>click to explore the 8 limbs of yoga<<

Meditation is the process of quieting the Wind element in your mind so that you can connect to spirit or source.  A meditation practice is the foundation to spiritual awareness.  Take time each morning to sit silently with your eyes closed and connect to spirit.
